2.Considering the uneven feeding material and lump size, the allowance of the bucket elevator capacity should be sufficient.
3.The driven device support frame and maintenance platform should be installed on the head casing. Customer should state whether need the maintenance platform according to requirement.
4.There is dust removal flange on the head part of the bucket elevator. You can connect with dust collector if the material with large amount of dust.
5.Please provide the following information for us to select model: material name, size, bulk density, temperature, moisture content, lifting height, feeding equipment name, working indoor or outdoor.
6.If the conveying material is fly ash, the bucket speed should be less than 1.3 m/s. The driven part should be specially designed.

Do You Really Know the Safe Installation of Bucket Elevator

1.The bucket elevator must be securely mounted on a solid concrete foundation. Concrete foundation surface should be flat and present as a horizontal state to ensure well-installed bucket elevator can achieve vertical requirements. Middle and upper casing section of a higher height bucket elevator should be connected with the neighbouring buildings in order to increase its stability. Firstly, please install the lower part, fix the anchor bolt, and then install the middle casing and upper casing. After complete the installation, please adjust and correct the vertical height, upper and lower shaft should be parallel to each other, and shafts should be in the same plane. When install the bucket elevator with a lower height , you can connect the upper ,middle and lower casing well first on the ground, and then hang the complete set vertically and fix it on the concrete foundation.

 

2. After completing the installation of casing, you can install the chain and bucket. The u-shape screw which is used for connect the buckets, it is not only a chain connector, but also a fixture of buckets. U-screw nuts must be tighten and locked securely, after the installation of chain and bucket, please adjust it to get a proper tension. 
3.Add the appropriate amount of oil or grease in the gearbox and bearing respectively, reducer should be lubricated with industrial gear oil, bearing seat can be lubricated with calcium or sodium base grease.

Model Selection of Bucket Elevator

 As common used lifting equipment, selection of bucket elevator is effected by many factors, wrong model will give customers endless troubles. Generally, model selection of bucket elevator depends on the following factors.

1. Material shape: powder, granular or small lump material.

2. Physical property: adsorbability or viscosity, and moisture content.

3. Proportion of material: common bucket elevator parameters are designed and calculated according to the materials which mass density under 1.6. While large proportion of materials are according to tensile strength of traction and drive part.

4. Unit conveying capacity:

Generally speaking, shape of material directly determines the discharging method. It is common practice that powder materials use centrifugal discharge and gravity discharge for lump materials. In addition, different charge method determines the different type of bucket, centrifugal discharge always use shallow or arc bucket, while deep bucket for gravity discharge. The unit conveying capacity of bucket elevator is different as its different bucket type. The conveying capacity of bucket elevator is a comprehensive parameter that depends on bucket type, speed, proportion of material, property of material and number of bucket. Selection process is as follows: proportion of material, property of material, discharging method, bucket type, conveying capacity and the model.

 

The Solution to Solve Blockage of Bucket Elevator

If there is blockage, please stop feeding material immediately, if serious ,please stop the machine and check the cause of blockage. Please use a shovel or special tools to clear up the blocked materials instead of hands.

1.If blockage is caused by big lump material entering into the base , please stop machine ,remove big lump materials and plugging materials.
2.If blockage is caused by insufficient tension of bucket belt, please adjust the tension after removing plugging materials. 
3.If blockage is caused by large feed flow rate which exceeds the bucket elevator capacity, please adjust the control valve or use other methods to control the flow rate after removing plugging materials .
4.If blockage is caused by feed before start-up, please remove plugging materials, start up the bucket elevatoragain and operate in strict accordance with the rules. You can only feed the materials after non-load running is normal.  

How to deal with the phenomenon of bucket elevator returning material too much?

  The phenomenon of returning material in operating bucket elevator is that the material can’t completely discharge from the bucket elevator but some falls into the inside of machine. When lifting the material, if there is returning so much material, it will reduce production efficiency, increase power consumption and material broken percentage.

 The reasons why there is returning so much material and the approaches to solve them are as following:

1.The speed of hopper is so fast. When the bucket elevator lifts different materials, the speed of hopper is different. In general, lifting dry powder or granular material, the speed is about 1~2m/s; lifting lump material, the speed is about 0.4~0.6m/s; lifting wet powder or granular material, the speed is about 0.6~0.8m/s. If the speed is too fast, the material will be discharged in advance and then causes the phenomenon of feeding material back. At this time, we should bring down the speed of hopper according to the lifting material.

2.The discharge tongue plate in die exit is installed improper. If the discharged tongue plate is far from dumped position, it will cause return material. So we should adjust the position of tongue plate in time. 

Four Methods to Solve Uneven Rotating Speed of Bucket Elevator Problem

1. Base frame blockage

The reason is feeding prior to start-up, the bucket belt lacks of tension which will cause belt skid, or the inflow rate of feeding is greater than the conveying capacity (including excessive of feeding back), as well as bulk materials enter into the base frame. The methods to eliminate the problem is to shut down the machine at once, close the feeding chute, open the base frame gate plate , clear the clogged material, and start up the machine in accordance with procedures. And also adjust the tension device in order to strengthen the clean up speed of anterior materials.

2. Conveying capacity reduces

The reason is due to the skid of the drive belt or lifting belt, insufficient rotating speed of electrical motor, uneven feeding, serious feeding back, unreasonable selection of bucket design. The methods to eliminate the problem is to adjust the tension device, check electrical motor, eliminate the fault, feed evenly, identify the cause for promptly discharge of material, and select bucket design reasonably.

3. Excessive of material returning back

The reason is the linear speed of belt elevator too fast or too slow, improper design or size of drive head, material discharging in the outlet is not smooth. The methods to eliminate the problem is to adjust the rotating speed of bearing, modify the external dimensions of drive head or adjust the drip plate at the bucket gap, and unblock the outlet.

4. Casing wears seriously and large power consumption

The reason is the installation of bearing tilts, dust deposition on bearing, poor lubrication, bearing failure or elevator belt is too tight, excessive of material returning back, blockage of base frame. The methods to eliminate the problem is to readjust, clean or change the lubricating oil, replace the bearing and adjust it properly. Identify the cause for promptly discharge of material, and clear the clogged materials.

The type selection principle of bucket elevator

The key to select the type of bucket elevator properly is that whether we can exert its service efficiency to meet the production requirements and improve production efficiency. The following aspects are how to select the type of bucket elevator.

According to the wetness and viscosity of material, we select different Hopperpatterns. Anterior wall of shallow hopper has large slant angle and small depth,so this kind of hopper is suitable for conveying wet and poor flowing propertymaterial. The anterior wall of deep hopper has small angle and large depth, sothis kind of hopper is suitable for conveying dry and good flowing property material. Main Functions of Double Channel Bucket Elevator

Bucket elevator has two types, one is single channel, another is double channel. Double channel bucket elevator is the machine that has two channels, feeding on one side, and hopper descending after discharging on the other side. Double channel improves the strength of the middle section of bucket elevator, the ascending and descending of single channel bucket elevator are in one casing channel.

Lifting capacity of double channel bucket elevator is 30% higher than single channel under the same condition. If the lifting capacity of the standard bucket elevator is same to customers’ requirements after getting lifting capacity and height from customers, choosing double channel bucket elevator, which can not only reduce cost but meet customers’ requirements. For example, capacity customer required is 15 CBM/hr, and if uses TD160 single channel belt bucket elevator, it can be only 13CBM/hr. And the capacity of TD250 double channel bucket elevator can reach 25CBM/hr and meet customers’ requirements. The price of TD250 is much higher than TD160 and more energy consumption. However, efficiency of TD160 double channel bucket elevator is 30% higher than TD160 single channel bucket elevator, and less cost than TD250. So TD160 double channel bucket elevator can meet customers’ requirements better.

Operation Procedures of Link Chain Bucket Elevator

Please operate strictly according to the following steps:
1. Non-load running

After the completion of the installation work, then you can run without load. Before non-load test, please guarantee the chain rotates on the sprocket jogged run for around two weeks or more, when there is no touching or abnormal sound ,you can continue non-load running. During non-load running, please check the current and voltage of the main motor and make record, measure the temperature rising of the gearbox bearing parts and each bearing of bucket elevator head &tail section at the same time.
After the non-load running for 4 hours, if there is no abnormal phenomenon, you can stop, and tighten all bolts once more which fixed the buckets. Because buckets are in the right position now during non-load running, after tightening the screws well, non-load running once again for more than 4 hours, then stop. Tight the bucket connecting bolts again, then weld the bolts and nuts well by spot welding.

 

2. Load operation

Bucket elevator already meets the load operation after finishing non-load running, you can run with load after confirming there is no problem with other connected devices. At the start of the load operation the load should be increased from minimum to maximum gradually. In the process of load operation, the please measure the motor current ,voltage and the bearing temperature rising condition and make record, in order to make assessment of trial run, performance, and working condition for the whole machine.

3. Operation
1) Start-up
Bucket elevator will meet the normal operation conditions when load linkage test running is completed. 1-3 minutes non-load running is required before the normal work, then increase the feed rate gradually after operation becomes stable till reach full load operation.

2) Shut-down
Please confirm there is no remaining material inside the buckets after stopping feeding , then running for a period of time again and stop running to ensure that materials in the buckets are all discharged.

The Reason and Solution to Bucket Elevator Material Accumulation

(1) Uneven material feeding. When feeding is too much, the feeding rate exceeds the lifting capacity which makes material remain in surplus and accumulation, besides, the materials inside the base elevates gradually, the running resistance of the buckets increase gradually and reach a certain extent, the rubber belt will slip which will cause machine shut-down or motor burn-down.
Solution: Control the feed rate strictly, non-load operation first then open the gate of material incoming gradually. Observe material rising condition by the front inspection door. When material surface reaches bottom wheel unparallel axis line, the material feeding gate can’t be wide open any more.

(2) Large material returning flow will make material can’t flow to discharge pipe and return to the base, thus the base material is increased and will lead to blockage.
Solution: reduce material backflow.

(3) When machine suddenly shut down due to power failure or other faults, the mass weight of lifting branch and the returning branch is unequal, which makes the bucket elevator reversed, the material inside the buckets return back to the base, it will lead to base blockage when you start the machine up again.
Solution: Installing a holdback device in the side of the elevator shaft to prevent bucket elevator reversals.

(4) Rubber belt slipping will reduce the lifting capacity of the bucket elevator, thus the material inside the base will increase and block.
Solution: increase the tension, prevent belt slip.

(5) Big foreign lumped material enters into the base and causes blockage.
Solution: Install guard fences at bucket elevator inlet to prevent accidents.

Do You Really Know How to Maintain Bucket Elevator Chain and Belt?

Compared with the belt of bucket elevator, the chain is easier to maintain, so let's first talk about how to maintain the chain of bucket elevator. The chain is made of metal material, the biggest impact is the tensile strength between the scratches and the material in our daily operation, so we need to do two things when we maintain the bucket elevator.
1.Wipe with oil on the surface of the chain, the oil will form a protective layer on the chain surface, thus it can extend the period of the chain scratches cycle when bucket elevator works.
2.The molding of each chain ring is not made one time, we can find there is welding place on each ring of the chain, so we must pay attention to the usage condition of the welding place when we maintain the bucket elevator, if there is crack ,please repair welding timely.

Next we will introduce the maintenance method bucket elevator belt, as we know the belt is soft so it is easy to affected by buckets and conveying materials, sometimes there may have tearing phenomenon, here we have three solutions to solve the problems.
The first method is hot vulcanizing, it is a method by using of vulcanizing machine, hot vulcanizing material to repair seamlessly with high strength, this method can make the belt eliminate damage and recover completely .
The second method is to cold patching, which is mainly use special belt cold bonding agent ,glue and special tools to repair in filling type, if there is a small area of tearing, this method is very effective. The third method is mechanical repair using by rivet, screws or clip to connect the tearing parts or layer peeling parts together, but one shortage of this method is temporary usage, it can’t use for long-term.

How to Trouble Shoot Bucket Elevator Belt Problems?

As a continuous conveying machinery for loose materials conveying equipment, bucket elevator has been widely used in food, feed, chemical and other industries, it is applicable to vertical conveying for powder, granular and small lump materials. The advantages of bucket elevator are: simple structure, high efficiency, low malfunction, etc. However, failure always happens in our daily operation which will affect the working performance. 1.bucket belt deviation
A. Failure cause : the main reason of bucket belt deviation is that when bucket belt is stretched, the adjustment is not timely or not appropriate .
B. Troubleshooting: adjust the tensioning device or gravity tensioning device at the bottom of the elevator, make the hopper with appropriate tightness and keep two axis of bucket elevator under parallel.

2. bucket belt slip
A. Failure cause: bucket belt is too long or balance weight is too light.
B. Troubleshooting :if the bucket belt is too long, you can cut a section of belt and hang it well; If the balance weight is too light, you should add balance weight until you belt slip phenomenon is eliminated.

What Problems Will be in the Material Lifting Process of Bucket Elevator?

In the material lifting process of bucket elevator, there may be such problems: insufficient material lifting rate, insufficient material discharging rate and material leakage phenomenon, only they are resolved timely ,the bucket elevator can have best effects .The reasons and solutions are as follows:

(1) insufficient lifting rate:

The material is likely to be caked on the bucket or chute, clean and remove the materials regularly according to caking condition. There is also possibility that the storage capacity of bucket elevator upstream equipment is insufficient which causes less feeding material, as result, the bucket elevator can not reach the design capacity, so we should try to improve the production capacity of upstream equipment. If the speed is slow, we have to change the speed ratio of the sprocket. Or it is caused by improper or wrong material calculation, check the calculator and material proportion, calculate again.

(2) insufficient material discharging rate:

The capacity of bucket elevator downstream equipment is small, make the discharge chute block, so we should improve the capacity of the downstream equipment of bucket elevator. It may also cause by small chute size or inappropriate chute angle ,so adjust the discharging chute. There is also a possibility that the material is caked on the chain bucket or inside the chute, so we need to remove material and maintain the bucket elevator periodically.

(3) material leakage phenomenon:

If the material leaks from the gap of head section and bottom section, please add the sealing gasket or glue with sealant . Replace new sealing gasket ,glue with sealant and tight the flange bolts if there gasket of bucket elevator flange is broken. If it is caused by large material feeding height difference and feeding pressure, please change the material feeding method and add the feeding buffer device.

Do You know the Solution if Motor Base of Bucket Elevator Vibrates?

(1) The bucket elevator motor itself rotates abnormally, please take down the rotor and check the static balance.
(2) The installation precision of gearbox and the motor is poor, the centring exceeds the required range, please readjust the centring.
(3) The installation precision of motor base is not good enough, levelness exceeds the specified requirements, motor, please take down the motor and machine the motor base again.

 

(4) There is error in installation of sprocket, please readjust to guarantee the concentricity of large and minor sprocket.
(5) The sprocket tooth profile is poor, please take down the sprocket and machine the tooth profile again, to ensure the consistency of the tooth profile.
(6) The tightness degrees of sprocket is inappropriate ,please adjusted length and maintain moderate tightness.

Bucket Elevator Maintenance Notes

 1.During operation, all doors must be fully closed; there must be appropriate lighting facility in the place of the lower and upper section inspection doors which open frequently ,if there is failure during operation, please stop the bucket elevator at once and eliminate the failure, if there are any defects are not suitable to eliminate immediately, the impact to the work is nor too much, please keep it in the maintenance record and eliminate the failure when troubleshooting, the supervisor should always check the working condition of each part, but when the machine is running ,all cleaning and repairing work is not allowed.

2.The bucket elevator should be started up without load, and stop the machine before all materials inside the buckets are all discharged.
3.The tension device of lower bucket elevator section should be appropriately adjusted, keeping the belt with normal working tension, the supervisor should always observe the working situation of bucket and belt, damaged buckets should be removed.

 

4.The bucket elevator can not reverse, if reverses, the chain will run off track, and it is very troublesome to eliminate this problems.
5.Even feeding, increasing the feeding rate suddenly is not allowed .The feeding rate can not exceed the transmission capacity of bucket elevator, otherwise it will be easy to cause material accumulation at the bottom.
6.Add lubricating oil appropriately in time.
7.Replace the chain and bucket which are badly worn or damaged timely.
